Gequ II hydropower station in Maqin County, Guoluo Prefecture, Qinghai Province is located on the qiemuqu River in the north central part of Maqin County, which is a primary tributary of the Yellow River. The station site is 60 km away from Dawu Town, the state capital. The drainage area above the station site is 5550km2, the drop is 2474m, the average gradient of the river channel is 16.39 ‰, the channel is deep, and the shape of "V" shape. The annual precipitation in the basin is 500mm, the annual average flow is 30.45m3/s, and the annual runoff is 9.6 108m3。 The total installed capacity of the power station is 48000 kW.
